The Fermion-Boson Mapping in Three Dimensional Quantum Field Theory
We discuss bosonization in three dimensions by establishing a connection between the massive Thirring model and the MaxwellChern-Simons theory. We show, to lowest order in inverse fermion mass, the identity between the corresponding partition functions; from this, a bosonization identity for the fermion current, valid for length scales long compared with the Compton wavelength of the fermion, i...
متن کاملFour-Dimensional Entropy from Three-Dimensional Gravity.
At the horizon of a black hole, the action of (3+1)-dimensional loop quantum gravity acquires a boundary term that is formally identical to an action for three-dimensional gravity. I show how to use this correspondence to obtain the entropy of the (3+1)-dimensional black hole from well-understood conformal field theory computations of the entropy in (2+1)-dimensional de Sitter space.
متن کاملFour-dimensional lattice chiral gauge theories with anomalous fermion content
In continuum field theory, it has been discussed that chiral gauge theories with Weyl fermions in anomalous gauge representations (anomalous gauge theories) can consistently be quantized, provided that some of gauge bosons are permitted to acquire mass. Such theories in four dimensions are inevitablly non-renormalizable and must be regarded as a low-energy effective theory with a finite ultravi...
متن کاملFour-dimensional stringy black membrane.
An exact conformal field theory describing a four dimensional singular string background is obtained by chiral gauging a U(1) subgroup along with translations in R of an SL(2, R)×R Wess-Zumino-Witten model. It is shown that the target space-time describes a four dimensional black membrane. Furthermore various duality transformed solutions are constructed. These are also shown to correspond to v...
متن کاملThree-Dimensional Image of A Communicating Uterus
Recent advances in reproductive medicine have created a demand for more accurate and safe imaging modalities before assisted reproductive treatment(ART) (1). Gradually, the important role of three-dimensional (3D) ultrasonography in the diagnosis of uterine congenital anomalies has been proved (2-4).
